The PS 75 Afterschool Program is a private nonprofit serving the needs of PS 75, The Emily Dickinson School. We provide affordable and flexible on-site after-school childcare and enrichment classes. Our program has two components: Aftercare and Enrichment.
Aftercare: Our Aftercare Program provides loosely structured, creative, recreational activities that allow your child to be a kid, to have fun, and to be a part of a club-like community with their classmates. Children are organized by grade (K-5) into small groups with two adult counselors - many of whom are also PS 75 staff - per group who engage the children in all of their activities such as snack, supervised homework group time, sports & group games, arts & crafts, free play & relax time, playground time, board games, story time & individual reading, themed festivals and special club days.
Enrichment: Our Enrichment Program provides PS 75 students with exposure to recreational, academic, and intellectual experiences that will expand and enhance their education onsite after school. We contract with reputable organizations and teachers from around the New York metropolitan area, some of whom are nationally recognized, and all of whom specialize in teaching children. Our Afterschool Program provides an Assistant Teacher for each class to ensure a small group with a low student-to-teacher ratio.

What are the PS 75 Afterschool program hours?
Our Aftercare program operates from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, on all full school days. Enrichment hours are from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, from the beginning of October through the end of May.
Is there Afterschool every day?
Our Aftercare program operates on all full school days throughout the school year.
Is Afterschool offered on half days or holidays?
Afterschool is not offered on holidays. On select half-days, we offer a half-day program. Half-day program registration is separate from regular Afterschool registration.
How does my child get from their classroom to Afterschool?
For students in grades K and 1, their daytime teachers will escort them to our designated Afterschool classrooms. Students in grades 2-5 will be accompanied by their daytime teachers to the Auditorium, where our Afterschool/Enrichment Group counselors will meet them.
Do you provide snack?
Students will receive an NYC School Food snack, including items like string cheese & crackers, yogurt and fruit, graham crackers, salsa & chips, hummus & pretzels, and more. All Enrichment students are served snacks in the cafeteria. If your child has food allergies, please ensure they bring a snack from home.
What if my child needs to use the bathroom during Afterschool?
All students are escorted to the restrooms, and our program follows the Rule of 3, ensuring that no student is ever without at least two other people. If our staffing situation doesn't allow for an escorted restroom trip, students will be sent in groups of 3, and their trips will be timed.
My child is enrolled in an Enrichment class. What do they do between dismissal (2:30 pm) and when the Enrichment class begins at 3:30 pm?
Each Enrichment class has an instructor and at least one assistant. Students are under the supervision of their enrichment assistants from the time they are dismissed at 2:30 pm until 5:00 pm. Enrichment activities last between 60-90 minutes. Before and/or after classes, they eat snack and engage in supervised play/reading/HW time.
My child wants to do an Enrichment class, but I cannot pick them up until 6:00 pm. Can you accommodate this?
All students enrolled in Enrichment classes have the option of enrolling in Aftercare from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm for a $45 additional fee.
Where do I pick my child up from Afterschool?
The pickup location is the West 95th Street Safety Agent Entrance. Parents will pick up their children at this location by 5:00 pm for Enrichment students and by 6:00 pm for Aftercare students. A staff member will be stationed at the entrance to coordinate with the Aftercare Groups and Enrichment, ensuring that students can be brought to the exit and authorized parents/caregivers can sign out their children.
Can someone else pick up my child?
Students will only be released to individuals listed as authorized pick-up persons for the student. If you need to authorize a new person for pick-up, please sign into the portal and search for the authorized for pick up section for the fastest most effective way and send an email to [email protected] for confirmation. Keep your child's online registration profile information up to date and inform the staff of any changes or updates. Our staff will request to see your ID (or the authorized pick-up person's ID) until they can confirm your identity visually.
Can I pick up my child early?
We kindly request that you pick up your child at the designated time. If you need to pick up your child before the final dismissal time, please notify us via email ([email protected]) once you arrive, please let the Safety Agent on duty know. They will inform our staff, and your child will be brought to you.
What if I am late picking up my child?
Late pick-ups beyond our regular dismissal time 6:00 (6:05-6:10 late pick up) will incur a late fee of $25, with an additional fee for every 15 minutes past the designated pick-up time. For instance, if pick-up extends past 6:05-6:10 by 6:25, another late fee will be implemented. This fee is essential to cover the additional supervision required for your child's care.
Consistent tardiness in pick-ups may also necessitate a review of continued enrollment in the program.
